Arendalsuka 2022

Arendalsuka 2022 is getting close. As one of the major political festivals in the Nordics, it will bring together over 1700 separate events and 200 stands. In 2021, despite the pandemic, over 90 000 people participated. Nordic Circular Hotspot will be strongly present at the event, and you will be able to find us both on stage and in the audience at many exciting events throughout the week.

The key topic at Arendalsuka in recent years has undeniably been climate and environment. As a visible sign of the attractiveness of circularity as a solution, this year more and more events are addressing circularity or topics related to the circular economy. We can’t wait to hear more about the latest developments in the Nordics.

If you’d like to catch us on stage, keep your eye out for these events on the programme:

Monday, 15th August

14:30–15:30, Nordic Circular Hotspot’s Co-founder Cathrine Barth shares her expertise and ideas as a part of the panel ‘Fra søppel til ressurs! Hvordan kan urban mining av e-avfall bidra til er mer sirkulært samfunn?’, organised by Atea. Atea is a leading IT company in the Nordics and Baltics with a pledge to build a better Norway with technology and IT. More information can be found on the event page.

Tuesday, 16th August

08:00–10:00 in Nordens telt on Rådhuskaia, Cathrine leads a key panel discussion, organised together by Nordic Innovation and Nordic Circular Hotspot, on ‘Sirkulært markedsdiplomati i Norden’. This event takes a look at how we can build a stronger Nordic circular market based on regional examples from Norway. It brings together an array of subject specialists, also including Nordic Innovation’s Marthe Haugland and NCH’s Bjarni Herrera Thorisson and Einar Holthe. For a full list of speakers, please see the event page.

14:30–17:15 in GRID’s bakgård, a session organised by WWF, titled ‘Produksjon og forbruk innenfor naturens tålegrenser’, brings together an exciting selection of experts and politicians. One of these is NCH’s Cathrine Barth, who will share her thoughts on ‘Hvordan blir hele verdikjeden sirkulær?’ More information can be found on the event page.

Wednesday, 17th August

13:00–13:45 in Harald’s pub, NCH’s Einar will be suggesting solutions based on place-based approaches and circular economy in response to the panel question ‘Hvordan sikre at SMB’ene henger med i det grønne skiftet?’ The event is organised by Amesto which specialises in digital solutions with the mission to simplify business. Read more on the event page.

Thursday, 18th August

08:00–09:30, Cathrine welcomes strong regional innovators in the circular economy to share their best practices and leverage Nordic opportunities in a session ‘Sirkulærøkonomi – fra buzzord til praksis’ by NOAH. For more than 20 years, NOAH has been at the forefront of ensuring that environmental toxins from contaminated inorganic waste do not end up in nature. As experts in surplus material, their perspective on how to accelerate the circular transition is crucial. You can read more about this event in an article by NOAH.

09:00–13:00, last but not least, Cathrine also brings a Nordic perspective to a session organised by Switch, titled ‘Remade in Norway – Kan sirkulærøkonomi være løsningen på en robust og kortreist produksjonsberedskap i Norge?’ Switch is a media company that brings you human perspectives on global problems – and what it takes to solve them. More details for this session can be found on the event page.
