With the majority of textile production occurring outside the Nordic region, driving innovation and facilitating the green transition becomes increasingly complex. Exchanging ideas and collaboratively pursuing key focus areas will be essential for the Nordic Textile Transition group (NTT).

The textile industry has come under scrutiny from both the EU and local governments due to its significant consumption of natural resources and energy during production processes. The global value chains and lengthy lead times to market mean that orders are often based on forecasts rather than actual demand. Furthermore, the high consumption associated with fast fashion has contributed to a substantial amount of textile waste, most of which is currently incinerated. However, there is considerable innovation focused on enhancing the recycling of fibers.

Given these challenges, exchanging ideas and collaboratively pursuing key focus areas will be a central goal of the NTT. This session aims to discuss ideas and gather input to shape the group's objectives effectively.

The NTT will also build upon the knowledge and partnerships developed through the Nordic Textile Collaboration. We invite you to join us and share your insights and ideas to help shape this new textile transition group.
