Bjarni Herrera is the COO of CICERO Shades of Green, which has received numerous awards for quality in green finance. It was acquired by S&P Global, the world’s largest credit rating agency, in late 2022. Previously, he was the Co-founder and CEO of CIRCULAR Solution, Iceland’s largest sustainability consulting firm and a key enabler in creating a market for sustainable finance instruments and progressing the corporate environment from a CSR-based to ESG-based corporate sustainability. It was acquired by KPMG, Iceland’s largest Big4, where Bjarni became Head of Sustainability before moving to CICERO Shades of Green.

Bjarni has a 15-year track record of leadership and management in banking, sustainability, and sustainable finance. He holds a law degree from Iceland and an MBA from S-Korea and the Philippines. He worked as a lawyer in Icelandic banks for seven years, including in the role of the Secretary of the Board of Directors at Arion Bank, helping restructure the bank after the financial crisis and manage its corporate governance. 

Bjarni loves reading and running and is passionate about an integrated and sustainable Nordic region. He is one of the Managing Partners of the Nordic Circular Hotspot, representing Iceland.
