Join the Nordic Textile Collaboration

The Nordic Textile Collaboration, funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, focuses on circular textile economy, including reduction of unnecessary consumption, lifetime extension of textiles, digitalisation and traceability in the fashion and textile industry, as well as collection, sorting, reuse and recycling of textiles. The project is now looking for participants — find out how to join below!

What is the Nordic Textile Collaboration?

The Nordic Textile Collaboration is a project initiated by the environmental authorities in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers for the period 2022-2024 and focuses on circular textile economy, including reduction of unnecessary consumption, lifetime extension of textiles, digitalisation and traceability in the fashion and textile industry, as well as collection, sorting, reuse and recycling of textiles. The project is organised around two initiatives that you can take part in:

1: Active Textile Society: Lifetime Extension of Textiles

The initiative brings together companies and citizens across Nordic countries to break down barriers to circularity. The aim is to extend the lifetime of textiles by promoting circular business models (repair, rentals, reuse, resale etc.). Participating companies get valuable insights into how customers perceive circular business models and inspiration about how to implement circularity in their existing business. Participating citizens get the opportunity to test new consumption methods and engage in a direct dialogue with companies on how circular business models can better accommodate their needs. The initiative involves a 6-months challenge where participating companies implement and promote circular business models, and where participating citizens seek out and test circular business models as an alternative to shopping for new products.

2: Sharing Nordic Circular Competences: Design and Textile Waste

The initiative creates a forum for knowledge-sharing across the Nordics and across the value chain for textiles. The focus is on ensuring interaction between actors that work with design, and actors working with the collection, sorting and recycling of textiles and textile waste. The initiative is relevant to companies, as well as all types of organisations that work with circular textiles from a design and/or waste perspective. When participating you get access to cutting-edge research and knowledge generated in the Nordic countries in recent years, as well as the opportunity to meet and interact with peers across the Nordics, both within and outside your own area of expertise. The initiative entails a series of online webinars and workshops focusing on selected themes, such as how to use design to develop high-quality textiles from recycled fibres.
