What fantastic circular days in Stockholm

Reflections on the Nordic Circular Summit 2022. Read what we at the Nordic Circular Hotspot think about this year’s event by Managing Partner Elin Bergman.

As the hosts of the Nordic Circular Summit this year, we are absolutely blown away by all the amazingly positive responses and feedback regarding the Summit and its programme. Even though the conference ended up in snow chaos and many had problems even reaching the event venue in Stockholm (and Google Maps lead the rest in the wrong direction), we had a fantastic turnout. We had about 300 physical attendees and almost 1000 participants joining us online every day – in total we had a record audience of circularity enthusiasts and expect even more to watch the Summit recordings on their own time later.

Even if the venue itself was freezing cold in the midst of a snowy Stockholm, the spirit and atmosphere inside were incredibly warm and engaging. The 170 great speakers in our 30 sessions over the three days kept the energy levels high and produced many calls to action for us at the Nordic Circular Hotspot to keep working on in the years to come.

One of the most engaging speeches during the summit was by Marcus Linder at RISE who talked about how far the Nordics have come in the circular transition. He compared the circular economy transition to an extremely slow-moving bus that has barely left the station and in which the politicians are hesitant to use the gas pedal while the passengers, the companies, want them to speed up. He also noted that we need to produce a positive circular vision for the Nordics and better and cooler role models like during the Dot-Com era which resulted in the Nordics having 96% internet coverage. This is something we at the Nordic Circular Hotspot will continue to work on in the coming years!

We as organisers are extremely happy to see all the engagement from you as Partners and participants in the Summit and are already looking forward to seeing you again in Reykjavik next year. And don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you want to be part of the Summit next year!
