The Circular Business Lab at RISE

One of the current and most exciting initiatives at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is ”The Circular Business Lab”. This is a member-based collaboration workshop for organisations that aim to transition to circular business models.

In the Lab, companies’ managers get the opportunity to develop circular business opportunities and future-proof their business for the transition to a more circular economy. This is achieved together with other members and with close access to RISE's entire expertise in circular business models, digitalisation and circular resource flows.

The transition to a circular economy is currently driven by a strong regulatory development at EU level, but also by increased demand for circular alternatives from consumers and companies striving for sustainable business. Circular business models are one of the strongest tools for achieving several key sustainability goals, such as emission reductions and resource efficiency.

According to Pernilla Dahlman (The Lab’s project leader):
"The Circular Business Lab at RISE is a bit like a gym where you can develop your circular fitness and strength. You can work on your own or attend classes together with others. You can also have a PT who helps you through a longer process. What you need to bring to the gym is the motivation to get better and the willingness to work hard to create sustainable results for your business."

Membership in the Circular Business Lab at RISE will help companies understand what the change means and how it can contribute to a rapid and business-driven transition. Specifically, in the Lab companies can get help to:

  • Understand how future policy affects their business. This is the area where Emanuela Vanacore (Researcher at RISE and NCH Managing Partner) will be mainly involved as a Researcher and Business Coach.

  • Create their circular vision and strategy and design your new circular business models.

  • Run pilots to experiment and validate customer needs, business models and new ways of working.
